Working on Sketch Cards

I was approached a while back by the Upper Deck card company to be a part of their Marvel Black Panther card set. They asked me to draw 30 sketch cards that would be randomly inserted into packs. I figured what the hell, even though I haven't really draw superheroes in a long time. For the most part the guidelines are pretty open so there were tons of characters to draw.

Overall I feel proud of the work I did. The hardest part by far was trying not to spend too much time on them. The longer you take the less you get paid in this game. I know for me time is always at a premium and I can't afford to waste any. I have a lot of irons in the fire and my focus shifts constantly

to whatever is most pressing at the time. Probably not the best way of working but I like to stay busy and have options of what to work on based on the amount of time I have at any given moment, if that even makes sense. An example would be my 15 minute coffee break at work, I can easily sketch and get some inking done but setting up my paints is out of the question.

It is definitely nice to step out of my comfort zone once in awhile and challenge myself. Some of the biggest improvements can come from pushing yourself beyond you boundaries.

Anyway, here they are in all their glory. There should be more on the horizon but I've got NDA's and all that fun stuff.
